The Search Continues

Thursday, December 18th, 2003

No, not for the truth! (Cheesey, I know.) I have more or less illiminated UT and Trinity due to curriculumn, while UofH, A&M, the Art Institute, and Ex’pression are still options. Of course, I will still look elsewhere. There are some other good design schools in NYC and Cali. I am searching for scholarships as well. I know I’m running late in the scheme of things, but God willing, I will prevail!

In other news, go see Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King now! Did you know, that Peter Jackson shot so much footage, that the first cut of ROTK was over 6 hours long? Crazy! Also, go see The Last Samurai; it’s pretty good, too.

Stressing

Wednesday, December 17th, 2003

I can’t believe it; I’m stressed for the first time in ages. It simply doesn’t happen to me. Stess is a foreign word. Regardless, I am now infected with this vile disease. The cause? The American educational institutions universally regarded as “college.” It’s times like this that I wish I had had a little guidance in my earlier years; guidance to explain what the heck I was really going to need to gain admittance into one of said institutions. Now I have a little under 45 days (even less when you take out Christmas vacation to Canada) to converse with admission personal in an attempt to make use of the infamous “special exemptions” clause of the admission requirements. Pray for me!

Where am I setting my sights on? Of course, I choose the least accessible of all universities: the University of Texas, Texas A&M, and Trinity. The main problem lies in my lack of three years of language credits, and the fact that I haven’t even started my admission process. Yaddah, yaddag; but that’s all in the past now.

On a semi-related note, I should publish an autobiography. Hmm. Then you all can read it when I am a multi-millionaire and be in awe. Haha, I do say.

San Francisco!

Tuesday, December 16th, 2003

I arrived back last night from my weekend trip to the Bay Area. I stayed with my cousin, Dean, and his wife Lucie and son Felix. I had a blast, to say the least! From the moment I met Dean at the airport, there was fun the whole time.

I arrived Friday night around 11pm Pacific time. Dean picked me up, we dropped my bag off at his house, and then went out for late night chocalate shakes. We spent a good deal of time catching up and talking in general. I immediately noticed how compact everything was, with no spaces between buildings, and multiple levels to everything. The next morning we all got up and went on a tour of the city, hitting spots such as Chinatown, the Wharf, etc. Dean and I even saw live break dancing and had a chance to chase a cable car up-hill for three blocks. It was great, it really was.

Sunday, Lucie and I drove over to Emeryville for the open house tour of Ex’pression, one of the colleges I’m seriously considering. There was lots to see and get information on, and we asked lots of questions. I came away very impressed by the school, faculty, and curriculum, but not so sure that it’s the right place for me. 30 months, 5 days a week, 10-13 hour days, and only three weeks off during the whole year!

Overall, I have mixed feelings regarding the city and the school. San Francisco may be very pretty, but it’s soo liberal! I was too busy having a good time to get many pictures taken, but you can view the ones I have.

Concerts and God

Thursday, December 11th, 2003

Gotta love it! Two amazing concerts are coming in February: Linkin’ Park & POD, and then Thousand Foot Krutch & Kutless. They are both gonna be rockin’ hardcore. I’m so stoked! LP and POD will be in the Toyota Center and TFK and Kutless in the Reliant Arena. Tickets go on sale tomorrow. Did someone say mosh pit?!

On a deeper level, God has really been speaking to me through Psalm 73. It’s an amazing chapter about how, at times, we may feel that the wicked have no troubles. They don’t have to worry about being pure, right? Well, God tells us that He will be our strength, and that we need only to rely on Him, as the world will get it’s punishment in due time. They “as a dream when one awakes” and the Lord “will despise them as fantasies.” I highly recommend you check it out.

Looks Like I Lied

Sunday, December 7th, 2003

Yes, even I may occasionally fall prey to that wonderful thing referred to as a “busy lifestyle.” In laymen’s terms, I simply ignored this site. I do have valid reasons, though: got two new orders in, rearranged the furniture in my room, and have been focusing on my social life (ok, ok, I’ve been having more fun than I should). Anyways, I’m here to actually write a “blog,” a note from my life, a look into my thoughts. Or maybe not.

A few samples of the orders I am working can be viewed at the following links: Christmas flyer and ministry site. The flyer is the 3rd version of the front. The site is really what I am enjoying. I was told to use the name Momentum and create the feeling of speed. I modified a stock picture of a tunnel, and I am going to add Flash lines zooming through it. It’ll be cool, trust me.

Off the computer, I’m heading to San Francisco this coming Friday to Monday to visit Ex’pression, one of my top-two college choices. I will be staying with my cousin Dean and his wife, Lucie. I am looking forward to the short trip a great deal and hope to get to spend some quality time with my relatives, as well as interview at the school. Wish me luck!

Until next time, Romans 12:9!
