When God Speaks

Thursday, February 12th, 2004

Whoa. That is the only word I can think of at the moment. God is so amazing! He has spoken to me so greatly recently. Wednesday night, I had some great worship time, just one on one with God, and in the midst of it, He brought me such a wonderful set of verses, speaking directly to me:

Psalm 32

1 Blessed is he
whose transgressions are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.
2 Blessed is the man
whose sin the LORD does not count against him
and in whose spirit is no deceit.

3 When I kept silent,
my bones wasted away
through my groaning all day long.
4 For day and night
your hand was heavy upon me;
my strength was sapped
as in the heat of summer.

5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you
and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess
my transgressions to the LORD “-
and you forgave
the guilt of my sin
.

Then, tonight I attended a David Crowder concert tonight at the Portico college Bible study. Simple put, it was incredible! I felt the power of God move in such a wonderful way; He brought me to my knees. It was a much-needed revival of sorts within my own being, and Jesus just spoke to my heart to remind me that no matter what has happened in the past, or the doubts I may have about the future, the bottom line is that He has it all under control, and all I have to do is trust Him. It’s difficult, but I’m trying!

Keep givin’ Him the glory.

Worth Dieing For?

Wednesday, February 11th, 2004

As you know if you’ve been reading my blog, I’m considering joining the military, and somehow the topic of warfare came up once again. I was asked the question, “Would you die for your country?” and I found myself questioning. My initial reaction was that I would not, given the moral decline of our people and their values, but now I am not so sure.

There is no question that I would give my life to save the soldier next to me, regardless of his background, but I am not so quick to defend the ethically depravity that so many Americans indulge in. Some very good points were made by my conversationalists, including our so-called protection of freedom and righteousness, the economical opportunities presented here, and the quality of life.

I would die for my family, my church, my friends, and my community. I would die without a second thought for the principles the United States represented in the past. But our country’s people have become so corrupt, that the America of 200 years ago, 100, or even 30 is not what it is today.

In the end, I would give my life for America. I do, although, have great sadness for our current state, and pray that a revival is in our near future. God knows we need one. What are your thoughts?

Age Requirements

I am so tired of not being 18. I can’t get a respectible job anywhere, except for my own design business. All the businesses I’ve inquired into are very interested in my and my skill set, but cannot hire me due to federal or insurance regulations. Only five more months and I am free!

Stress.. sucks. I am going to Austin this weekend. I don’t feel up to much, so this post is very uninteresting; sorry.

Getting to School on Time

Tuesday, February 10th, 2004

Boy was today a long day… Had to wake up at 7am (gasp! the horror) to get to school to turn in a project-type thing before the deadline. I then promptly went back home and got some more sleep! Of course, I had to be at my regular class at 8:38, so not much was gained.

The day dragged on, and then I went downtown to take the ASVAB military aptitude test. It is a three hour test, and I completed it in just under one hour and 15 minutes, scoring a 92 out of a possible 99 points (the average is 40-50, and only 4 other people have scored over a 90 from Klein all year). The problem was that my recruiter drove all the way back home, thinking I would take the full allotted time, so I ended up having to wait around for over and hour for him to drive back and pick me up.

Straight from testing, I went to the gym to get in a quick hour workout. Not bad, but the girls at the desk yelled at me for not bringing a sweat towel. Too bad, so sad I say! After that I came home and was privy to a scene that re-affirmed my desire to move out as soon as I can.

On a positive note, I made this last night before bed.

On Snot and Fonts

Sunday, February 8th, 2004

Last night, and early this morning, was great fun. James bought desert for Jenny and I at Pappadeaux’s, and I must say that it was delicious! We had a combination of two deserts, plus a desert sampler which included three more deserts. Needless to say, we were stuffed. As we went out around 10:30, and Pappadeaux’s had closed long before we finally left, we just had a blast racing around in James’ truck and being crazy. After all that, Jenny had to go home at 1am, so James and I headed to the 24 Hour Fitness to get in a good workout. We didn’t leave till 5am.. one heck of a tough workout.

Have you noticed that, just a week later, everyone has all but forgotten about Janet’s Boobie Bowl act? It’s amazing how short an attention span the general public has. No longer is it limited to political candidates and their campaigns, but it has branched out into almost every aspect of our culture. People simply do not hold others accountable for their actions anymore.

Here’s a scary thought: our prison security guards were defeated by a toilet-paper gun recently. Apparently, no one had the guts to shoot the convicted rapist with one of their own guns? What’s the deal? Just shoot the b******!
