Easter Sunday

Sunday, April 11th, 2004

I must remind everyone one of the fact stated by my friend, Greg: “HE IS RISEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Yes, indeedy, today has been set aside to focus on and remeber when Jesus laid down His life and sacrificed himself for our sake, so that we may all have eternal fellowship with Him in heaven. But I must make the request that this is not a once-a-year event, but a state of mind that we live in every day. Our entire life should revolve around the fact that we have been bought by God and we should die to ourselves and live in Him daily, not just once a year and not just on Sundays, but all the time.

Today God bombarded me with His love! Church this morning was wonderful, and pastore Charles spoke directly to me. The sermon was regarding triumphing over tragedy and led us through why “bad things happen to good people,” why we should expect these events, and how to rely on God to lead us through them for His greater purpose. Afterwards, I met up with the Dickey’s and friends (Kim’s parents) for a delightful breakfast and seafood buffet. It’s always good to be around them; such love. That lasted until around 2:30, at which time I drove home to change and prepare a bit for something I’m doing tomorrow. At 4:30 I went over to my sister Michelle’s house to help prepare dinner for her, Paul (her husband), Paul’s dad, my little brothers, and I. We all enjoyed each other’s company and had some good family time playing Mortal Kombat ;-) .

Now it’s time for me to just chill… hot tub…

Exhausted

Saturday, April 10th, 2004

It’s been a long two days. Yesterday I had to wake up early for the job interview, after being out late the night before, and then had to make a good impression for the interviewer. Good news: I got the job! That was a short lived highlight of my day, though. Immediately afterwards I drove to the Woodlands to help Phil work on my truck. He was able to fix the biggest problem, but not all of them. So, that was a bit of a let down.

I then drove to see Mike and Melinda, as well as Rory, on my way home. We had some good time talking and loving on each other, but I had been so reminded of Kim all week that it just made me so sad. I went home and just cried in my room… I finally got ready for the David Crowder concert (because they were “making” me go), but I drove back to see them again. I just had to give more hugs. Jason showed up and I was happy to see him, but I really had to get going.

Pulling into the parking lot at Fellowship of the Woodlands church, I saw Aaron and Jamie! They were seeing the show with the rest of Aaron’s band Spur58, all friends of mine. We had a chance to talk and catch up and it was especially great to see Bush and Chad. Bush shared with me a bit about how he lost friends in high school and his experience with that, so it was encouraging. The concert was good, also, and it allowed me to lose myself a little, which I definitely needed.

That night I went over to Cori Holt’s house with a bunch of people from church to chill and eat ice cream. Around 11:15 I left and drove over to Peter’s house in Tomball to join in with the bonfire which had been going all evening. It was pretty much just relaxing and talking, with some exploration of his barn by James, Scott, and I. I finally got homt to bed around 4am.

This morning I had to wake up to start life guard certification at 9:30, giving me barely five hours of sleep. I drove over to the pool and walked in and just fell asleep on the floor. The day was filled with freezing cold water, blue fingers and toes, much uncomfortablness, and a CPR and lifeguard license. It wasn’t too bad, but I’m glad I get to relax.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like I’m going to get to see Spur in concert tonight, but there is a tornado heading our way, so I get to watch some cool weather taking place from my garage. Today was good because it kept me busy and mind off of Kim.

Take care and pay attention when God speaks. And listen to this.

How Much Can I Take?

Friday, April 9th, 2004

Ever been plagued with that question? Ever wonder if it’s all worth it? The questions present themselves, nagging during consiousness, invading during sleep. Sometimes I just get hit so hard… like this afternoon. Screw it all.

How am I doing? Fine, sure; don’t worry. But at the same time, this sucks. Kim… It must be a nightmare. I don’t want to deal with it, I don’t want to feel.

Pray. I’ll be back later. I just don’t care anymore, but I do. It’s a war.

Workin’ on the Truck

Thursday, April 8th, 2004

Well, although school was filled with some pretty funny occurances, my time spent after school working on my truck was not quite as enjoyable. I took ‘lil Beast over to Phil’s so that we could work on it and we started off with a good amount of enthusiasm. Phil and Justin tackled the project straight on and got the axle and rear gear diferential off in no time. While positioning the new diferential we ran into a slight problem: the bolts to hold on the wheels and brakes were reversed on the later-model part we were attempting to fit into place. This led to much frustration. So, my truck is staying their over night to be worked on more in the morning. Phil was incredibly generious and let me take his truck home overnight, so it’s not that bad.

Job interview tomorrow at Texas Land & Cattle, so be prayin’ for the outcome!

Run-to-Class Wednesday

Wednesday, April 7th, 2004

The tables have been turned and the nerds are now back in style. We, a group of amazingly studly senior guys, have taken it upon ourselves to return to the days of our youth’s youth and restore the glory back to it’s rightful owner: the man who runs to class while avoiding the tardy bell. That’s right; we run to class! Mwahaha, ah the humanity! (And appropriate runner garb is promoted.)

Today was the best day yet, with some amazing dashing and dodging through crowds of innocent bystanders. I must also add that I, yes I, won the lunch race, the Daytona 500 of Run-to-Class Wednesday, and while wearing sandals no less! Yes, I wear the winners belt until next week. All hail the class-runnin’ king!

Ok, enough of that… I need sleep, but have tons of English to catch up on.
