A Village of Unbelievers

Saturday, July 31st, 2004

Last night I had the pleasure of viewing The Village with my friend Ashton. In a nutshell, I really loved the concept of the movie but thought the execution was only mediocre. Without spoiling it, my impression was that the multiple twists were amazing, but the film simply wasn’t that scary. It was good, but it could’ve been great. I still recommend you see it.

In other news, I’m involved in an interesting discussion with a man which started over one of my poems but has now escalated to Christianity. Worth a look.

Gentlemen, Start Your Engines

Thursday, July 29th, 2004

…And I can! Hurray! Yes, I (along with the help of my neighbor and then James) removed the old starter (what a pain in the butt!), bought a new one ($120), and installed the fresh starter (not too bad). Covered in greese yet satisfied with my work, I leaned in through the window, and fired up the engine. Oh, did it sound good!

Next project, the ring and pinion.

The Beast Rumbled

Thursday, July 29th, 2004

Well, my baby broke down on me tonight! That’s right, my truck’s starter completely gave out while I was over at Lindsay’s house with some friends. I tried to leave, but was compelled to stay by the fact that ‘lil Beast wouldn’t start up! Further inspection by Mr. Geffert confirmed the starter as the culprit. He graciously offered to use his AAA card to get me a free tow to my house where I will fix the part in the morning.

Speaking of which, I gotta say that I love their family. Such great people. Take it easy and good travels on the roads of life.

Jackass Mayor

Wednesday, July 28th, 2004

In a gesture poking fun at the political process, residents in a town between Divide and Lake George in Colorado elected a donkey as mayor. His honorable Paco Bell is serving his second term.

Mission

Tuesday, July 27th, 2004

Yesterday and today I worked down on the other side of town at the Open Door Mission, an outreach program for recovering drug addicts. The youth group is spending the week serving food, cleaning the place, and doing lots of outside manual labor for the mission. I’m enjoying it alot and getting to have some great conversations with the men there.

Gotta run!
