Livin’ the Life

Friday, April 29th, 2005

Enjoying the weather!
These past couple of days have been most excellent. Two of my classes were cancelled yesterday, so I got a chance to do go sit outside the student center and study while listening to a band play. The weather was perfect. And last night I went out to the Kappa Sigma house to chill and watch the Rockets’ game, and then party until the wee hours of the morning.

Today I rolled out of bed around two o’clock (I don’t have Friday classes), showered, got something to eat, and then went down to Sewell Park on the river with a bunch of girls I know. We hung out, played frisbee, and enjoyed an excellent steel drumb band that played for the chili cook-off. Now I am finally going to get back to studying, but I took a much-deserved break.

Ah, the college life…

Quick Links

Time for a link-a-thon:

  • Check out this page for some beautiful pictures of a rotten theme park. Wonderful.
  • If pizza cutters turned assult weapons interest you, then this desiner is right up your alley.
  • This Canadian couldn’t remember the words to The Star-Spangled Banner… I have no sympathy for her.

…a nice little quote:

“Great spirits have always encountered opposition from mediocre minds. The mediocre mind is incapable of understanding the man who refuses to bow blindly to conventional prejudices and chooses instead to express his opinions courageously and honestly.”
- Albert Einstein

And the song I’m currently listening to: “Breath Me” by Sia off of the “Colour the Small One” album.

Marijuana for the Masses

Tuesday, April 26th, 2005

marijuanaWell, not exactly, but I have uploaded the content of my marijuana legalization persuasive speech. My biggest complaint about the assignment is that I had to condense the speech into five to seven minutes, when I could easily speek for 30 minutes on the subject.

To view the speech online in pdf format, follow this link.

Decriminalization & Legalization

Monday, April 25th, 2005

Well, it’s 7:45am and I got… zero hours of sleep last night. I was up all night writing my speech on “Decriminalization & Legalization: the Marijuana Debate.” I’m advocating to revoke the criminal laws regarding marijuana use, and to instate a regulatory system to legalize the drug. Now, don’t jump to assumptions–I don’t smoke weed–there are, in fact, excellent arguments for the legalization of marijuana.

In the meantime, I’m gonna eat a bowl of cereal and hit the sack!

ADD in the Woods

Sunday, April 24th, 2005

I meant to write my speech this afternoon, but instead I got caught up designing a few wallpapers for a contest as well as for personal use. One of them is a tribal design with a modern twist. The other two are themed with a certain logo in mind, so I won’t post them.

If you ever need to make fire, and all you’ve got is a coke can and some chocolate, then you’re in luck! This wilderness survival explains just how to make fire from said items. You never know when this kind of knowledge will come in handy…

And last but not least, if you remember the days of SkiFree from Windows95, then this web site will bring back warm fuzzy memories.
