School’s Out for Summer!

Tuesday, May 10th, 2005

Definitely rocked out hard in the dorm today… Imagine a floor of screaming college students jumping around to AC/DC. Anyways, I’m done with my last final, and I have to be out of the dorm in 24 hours. I’m going to head back to H-town for most of the summer. I plan on working my butt off on a few new projects, as well as attending summer school (boo that).

I’m off to par-tay…

Spur58 in Concert

spur58.com

Yesterday I was searching for internship opportunities online, and I came across an entertainment promotions company. While browsing their website, I came across a listing for my friends’ band, Spur58, that was about to be playing here on the Texas State campus in an hour. Needless to say, I got my rump up and headed over to the Glade Theatre to hear them.

Spur58 is now based out of Tennessee, and I hadn’t seen the guys in about a year and a half. We all enjoyed the run-in thoroughly. After the show, we went out to eat and shoot the bridge. We hung out again today, grabbing lunch and chilling in downtown San Marcos before they had to get back on the road for their tour.

If you haven’t heard of them, be sure and check out their web site and listen to some music samples. Also, two finals down and two to go!

Agent Orange

Wednesday, May 4th, 2005

AdBusters released an article last month that draws parallels between the use of Agent Orange in Vietnam and depleted uranium in Iraq.

For going on 30 years, the US government and its corporate accomplices have hidden behind a thin veil of technicalities to avoid responsibility for Agent Orange: what is morally, anecdotally, and, some would argue, scientifically obvious is ignored in hopes of putting the Vietnam legacy—specifically, its potential for billion-dollar litigation—behind them.

Not exactly an eye-opener, but indeed a thought-provoking read… Disgusting.

Age of Empires III

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2005

The next chapter of one of the most popular gaming series ever, Age of Empires, is coming: Age of Empires III! GameSpot got an exclusive, hands on look at the game in development, and wrote an excellent preview of it.

For those of you know who, I used to run AOE2.com, one of the leading web sites that covered the Age of Empires II: Age of Kings game. Anyways, I haven’t played computer games in forever, but I am definitely looking forward to this one.

The Other Side

Sunday, May 1st, 2005

Alright, my time “livin’ the life” is over for now… Finals have hit! I just got done with two two-hour study sessions. This part of college sucks! Up this week are my finals in history and psychology, and then a contemplative essay over a civil war battle. Fun…
