Bob Krueger, Camping
I had the pleasure of meeting Bob Krueger last night! You probably don’t know of him, but he happens to be a personal hero of mine. In brief, he has been a senator and state representative from Texas, a successful business man, but most notable he has served as ambassador to Mexico, Burundi, and Botswana. While serving in Burundi, Krueger played a roll in fighting a social genocide, much like the one that occurred in Rwanda.
Anyways, I was hanging out at the student center on campus, and he walked past the group of friends I was with. I immediately recognized him and a friend and I decided to follow him. Mr. Krueger was attending a political dinner hosted at the university for the Texas Legislature. Tickets were $250, so I conjured a story about my working for the university newspaper, etc etc, and I got in! I found Krueger and very politely introduced the young lady I was with and myself. Mr. Krueger turned out to be quite a gentleman, very charismatic, and he talked with us for about 20 minutes, and even introduced us to a current candidate for the Texas Senate. I enjoyed the experience thoroughly.
And now I’m running out the door, because I’m going camping this weekend for the annual brotherhood retreat with my fraternity! See you all after the weekend.
