Texas State Heads to the Semifinals

Sunday, December 4th, 2005

pictureThat’s right, in our first official sell-out game ever, 15,411 fans witnessed the Bobcats defeat of the Cal-Poly Mustangs 14-7. With the NCAA ban on temporary seating, many fans were without tickets and lined the fences surrounding Jim Wacker field. The bottom line is that the game was amazing! Being in a fully-packed stadium was pretty awesome and a very rare thing for TX State (it’s only been done twice before, in 1981 and 1982). After the game, we all rushed the field, sprinting to congradulate the players and Coach Bailiff.

It was quite an incredible experience, to say the least. And the semi-final game is going to be back here in San Marcos next week!

Bobcats Continue in Playoffs

Saturday, December 3rd, 2005

I know I haven’t posted about it yet, but it’s big news down here in San Marcos: the Texas State Bobcats have advanced to the second round of the Division 1-AA Playoffs! They play today, Saturday, at 3pm here at Bobcat stadium; the game will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

This is the first time Texas State has had a post-season since 1982, when we won our second NCAA title for Division 2 play and moved up to 1-AA. Needless to say, the school is very excited, and we really have a chance to go all the way and win the playoffs! The Bobcats are already Southland conference champions, our first winning season in years, and we’re poised to go all the way.

I just got back from tailgating–yes, the night before–and I’m going to head back out around 11am. The last game was INCREDIBLE, and this one looks to be a close one as well. Eat ‘em up, Cats!

Lacking in Substance

Thursday, December 1st, 2005

Life is a dark curiosity… The delights of facile persons, dilettantes intent on their own self-gratification. I am surrounded and “blessed” with the pleasures so many seek, but am unfulfilled. Substantial interaction I desire; digression into the dark corners of the soul… It is a strange thing to be lonely, while at the same time overwhelmed with so much.

Where am I now?
