Pictures, etc

Friday, February 10th, 2006

I’ve got pictures back on my blog! I’m just starting to upload all my old photos, so keep checkin’ back to see what all is up. The picures are actually stored on Flickr.com and I’m using a script to show them on my site as well. Anyways, for all those who’ve been asking for them, pictures are back.

I’m also working on something called the status page…

sitting in the volleyball pit

I forced myself to take it easy this afternoon… The past month has been nonstop (it’s already February?) and I tend to forget that my mind and body need attending to just as the rest of my commitments do. So, we chilled out in the volleyball pit soaking up some rays, played a little ball, just relaxed. The weather has been so warm lately and the days so beautiful that I had to take advantage.

New Blogging System

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006

Adding new entries to my blog has been very tiresome as of late. Unsatisfied by the options presented by the Blogger service, I decided to install my own blogging system. I chose WordPress, a personal publishing tool with focus on aesthetics and a host of features and plug-ins. I completely re-wrote the entire site, upgrading everything to CSS and XHTML compliant code, and adapted the them of my blog to the new software. On the surface it might not look like much, but a drastic change has taken place.

What will the new benefits be? Easier posting mechanisms, file attachments, database backup, posting from a cell phone, etc… I’m most looking forward to adding a new photo section, as I haven’t had a working picture gallery in almost two years.

Will I update more often due to all these changes? Who knows…

Birthday Intelligence

Saturday, February 4th, 2006

Today I celebrated my friend Adrienne’s 19th birthday… We went to eat at Kobe’s Japanese Steakhouse, and I must admit that it was quite an experience. I had never been to a Japanese restaurant before, nor had I ever had sushi, and both proved to be very enjoyable. Our cook–who I believe faked his accent–joked around and was doing tricks with his cooking utensils, and “accidentally” flipped a raw egg into my lap (the egg turned out to be a fake), making for an interesting pre-dinner show of sorts.

Completely unrelated, but nevertheless interesting is this quasi-intelligence test I came across online. You are presented with 33 number and letter combinations (24 H in a D = 24 hours in a day), and the number you can figure out in 20 minutes roughly determines your intelligence. Its accuracy is doubtful, but amusing none-the-less.
