Once again I have gone without updating anything, but not without reason–I’ve been in Destin, FL on spring break! My close friend Adrienne graciously invited me along with her sister, sister’s boyfriend, and mom and dad to spend the week with them. We stayed at the exquisite Sandestin resort that encompasses both the beach and bay sides; in short, it was a step into paradise.
The easiest way to explain all that I did is simply to show you the photos that I just uploaded in the pictures section. Out of over 300 photos that I took, I’ve uploaded sixty-eight pics for your viewing pleasure.
I met up with Adrienne and her family in Houston a week ago on Saturday, and we drove to Baton Rouge and checked into a hotel for the night. We got up early in order to stop by New Orleans before heading on to Florida. We ate in the French Quarter, and that area seemed to be thriving again, although not nearly as crowded as usual, but while leaving the city, we saw the wake of Katrina’s damage. And as we moved on to Biloxi and into Miss. the destruction worsened. You’ll have to look at my pictures to see evidence of the storm.
The rest of the day consisted of visiting a few sites along the way, and then finally arriving at our condo around nightfall. The place was great: three bedrooms, full kitchen, dining room, and living room, back patio enclosed with a screen, right on the golf course, and a few minutes walk from the beach. And if you decided the walk was too far (less than a mile), you could just call a tram to come pick you up from your condo and take you there.
All the days just blur together… Morning breakfast (a rare treat in college) and bikes rides, lunch and afternoons on the beach, dinner and nights out on the town or the resort village. Everything flew by as if in a dream. A week of virtually no responsibilities, spending it with someone I care about and who’s company I enjoy, in an exotic location; is it over already?
Needless to say, this spring break was one of my favorite vacations ever, and I am extremely thankful for being given the opportunity to embark upon it. (On a side note, the equivocal nature of the feminine plucked upon my being, rendering my quintessence thoroughly flustered yet again; it seems destined to be my permanent state of conscience.) Anyways, the trip was amazing and I loathe the thought of awaking tomorrow to the many responsibilities that await.
