It’s interesting how we subconsciously put on different personas around different people. I can personally attest to the fact that I only feel like I’m really showing my “true self” around certain people or in certain environments, or when I’m in the right mood. Why is this? It was brought to my attention today when visiting with my mom. She was looking at some of my headshots, and referring to the ones of me smiling, she remarked, “I don’t even know this guy.” And I realized that I rarely smile or am “me” around my family… And I wonder who else doesn’t ever see my true self?
