I GOT INTO UT!

Tuesday, April 18th, 2006

After a very discouraging talk with admissions yesterday, where they explained that out of over 900 applicants to my particular college within the UT system that they only had 41 available slots, I just got notice that I WAS ACCEPTED! I’ll be a Longhorn in the fall!

It’s 2:30am and no one is up, but HELL YES! I can’t wait to be able to say that I am attending the University of Texas… mwhaha

This past weekend was very relaxing, and I needed it. Spent Friday and Saturday with my sisters and also got to see a couple of friends who I haven’t seen in months, plus my younger brother Josh and my mom. Saturday I basically sat out by the pool with Scott and my brother-in-law Paul, smoking cigars and drinking Dos Equis (not the usual for me, right?). Seeing Michelle was an oft-too-rare treat and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Angie and I drove back Sunday morning, and when I arrived I went over to my buddy James’ house. He had grilled the night before, so we stuffed our faces before heading out with a bunch of his friends to Barton Springs to canoe and swim. We found a sweet rope swing that kept us occupied for awhile, but then we moved on to jumping off of a bridge crossing the river. That was a great rush, until a bike-cop came by and kicked us out… It was an awesome way to spend Eater Sunday, however.

easter weekend

Friday, April 14th, 2006

I didn’t even realize till two days ago that this weekend was Easter… I’m about to leave to drive to Houston with my sister Angie to spend the weekend with her and my other sister Michelle and her family. Hopefully I will be able to see my little brothers and a few friends who are in town as well.

This will be my last break before I have to get down to work; I haven’t done a single productive thing since Fite Nite last week. Monday I have a project due, Tuesday a test, and Thursday a major research paper. Oh, joy. But once again, a few relaxing days before I have to get back to reality.

“The adventitious beauty of poetry may be felt in the greater delight with a verse given in a happy quotation than in the poem.”
